Located in the Sydney’s inner west, the clients brief sought a renovation that converted a century old flour mill into a family home. Crumbling structure, the remnants of a dodgy office fit-out, a long western facade, and an absence of any outdoor space all had to be addressed. Coupled with the need for the new works to sit comfortably within the established character of the existing building, changes were carefully designed to add a contemporary layer of history to the place. The new elements respond in material, scale and proportion to the existing structure.
